  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Allow it to sit until foamy.
  2. Stir in salt, oil, and two cups of flour until well combined. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and shape each piece into a bone by rolling into ropes and twisting.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last ten minutes of rising.
  7. Bake breadsticks for 12-14 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan on top.
  8. Serve warm with marinara sauce.
