  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 21/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 or 3 cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt two sticks of unsalted butter until it turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a stand mixer, combine the cooled browned butter, brown sugar, white sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour along with baking soda and salt; mix until combined. Fold in dark chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough for at least one hour on lined baking sheets.
  6. Bake chilled dough balls for about 12 minutes until slightly undercooked but set around the edges. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
