  • 1/4 cup (21g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (107g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (99g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (regular or mini size)
  • 1/2 cup chopped caramel squares (use a knife to cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 cup (57g) chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a bowl, cut caramel squares into small pieces and mix together with chocolate chips and chopped pecans (reserve some for topping).
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Cream softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture along with the mix-ins (saving some for later).
  6. Form dough balls using a cookie scoop and press reserved mix-ins onto each ball.
  7. Bake for 10-14 minutes until set; cool on the sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
